What is a .NET dev’s day like at Koios

We had a chat with Denis who has been working at Koios for over a year. His experience is overwhelmingly positive, which is to say that you might also like working there.

Do you remember your first working day?
On the first day I met Ivan and Boris – mostly because they were the only ones in the office when I arrived. Boris walked me around the office, so I knew where to find stuff I might need, showed me how to track work hours through TSheets, gave me access to company’s GDrive and a C# book to read.

What do .NET developers do?
I’m currently working on developing .NET applications, although my stack is a little more full, so I develop databases and interfaces too. I get a kick out of the fact that people who don’t know how to code think that programming is a kind of magic, and programmers are mad wizards. I have yet to see a white owl or a pointy hat at work.
I am currently completing the development of a bank employee education application. Clients are great, their demands are reasonable, and I don’t feel a lot of pressure. Communication with the business department is exceptional, there are almost no disagreements, and if they happen, we resolve them quickly.

What do you like about your job, what is not so nice?
I love problem-solving and the fact that Koios allows us to organize our own time when working on a problem. I don’t like being indoors all the time, but it’s the nature of the job. Laptop screens are still hard to see on a bright sunny day.

Got an anecdote to share?
I once had a request for a report that would be written into several hundred thousand lines in Excel. I don’t know if that’s funny, it made me chuckle at the time.

Any last words for your future colleagues?
Koios is a great company where you have the opportunity to hone your current skills and acquire new ones. You could join an exciting project being developed by your colleagues from other departments. The company is still growing, I get to meet someone new at every coordination meeting.
